Back-to-School

School is starting soon and I'm not sure if I'm happy about it or not... I can't wait to see my friends and wear my new clothes, but I'm not very excited for all the work that comes with it... I'm still enjoying my last remnants of vacation and hoping they last just a tad longer. In the meantime, here's a picture of Penny et moi! :D

30 Day Book Challenge: Day Twenty-Five

"A character who you can relate to the most"

Julie from Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen

Although I prefered the 1960s movie setting over the modern-day book setting, this book is also a fantastic read. I can relate most to Julie, who, although I'm not much of one anymore, is a social outcast. She loves her chickens and cares for them with all her heart (like me) and she's a young advocate for the environment (like me). There's this great scene when she climbs a tree just to prevent it from being cut down... I've always wanted to do that!

My Chickies :-)

My lovely girl, Penny (left). She's a Rhode Island Red and is very outgoing. Although she likes to go on adventures, she follows my rules and usually well behaved. :-)
This one here on the right is Advika. The name is Hindu and it means unique, just like my little chicky.
This one (on the left) is Daisy. She's a bit of an oddball, but she's super sweet!
The one that looks like she's angry is Prudence... She's not always the most fun-loving of the bunch but she can be sweet. She's just a bit mature.
The one in the back left is Charlotte and the one in the back right is Dhara (also a Hindu name, means Earth). I was holding clovers and all the chickies wanted their share.
Here's some fresh eggs! The green ones are laid by my Americanas: Charlotte and Advika. Aren't they cool?
This is a picture of Penny taking off. You can't see her head, but those are her wings flapping.

Bienvenue!

Good evening fellow citizens of the world and welcome to my blog! As this being my first post, I should let you learn about my blog and me. First off, I'm not a professional blogger because (not to offend anyone) I feel like there are better things to do with my time. I merely created this as a fun way to express my thoughts and ideas.

My Blog
There isn't exactly a theme to this blog besides me just posting what I feel: whether it be music, books, environmental issues, politics, poetry, art, or whatever I feel at that moment. Feel free to comment on my posts, however take in consideration that I am a human being with feelings and I'm not out to do anyone any harm. :)

Me
I have a deep adoration for everything art, environment, and travel. I love to paint, draw, sculpt, write, read, work in my garden, play with my chickens & cats, travel, spend time outside, explore, swim, bike, and create things. I'm a proud vegetarian and socialist and I am a strong believer in fair rights for all. I'm a bit of an introvert but that's only because I feel I can learn more from traveling and exploring the outdoors than I can from socializing with fellow people at my school (not in all cases, of course).

Ten Weird Things About Me:

  1. I have 6 chickens: Daisy, Penelope (Penny), Prudence, Dhara, Advika, and Charlotte.
  2. I love to learn. I actually enjoy being in school and getting an education (to a certain extent).
  3. My life goal is do something worthy of achieving the Nobel Peace Prize.
  4. I love history, especially the 20th century.
  5. I have a slight obsession with the Beatles. Well, major obsession.
  6. I can currently speak French, Chinese, Spanish, and English (enough to get me by, although English is my first language) and am learning Swedish and American Sign Language.
  7. When in the rare event that I watch television or movies, I enjoy movies from the 1900s-1990s as well as foreign films and I love the TV shows b.Organic, the Big Bang Theory, and New Girl.
  8. I have solar panels. :)
  9. I'd like to say I'm a hippie (however I never have and never will do drugs).
  10. I love birds. All kinds. I especially love drawing them.
Stay tuned! :)
